Description

This carving is inspired by Dora Maar’s Untitled (Hand-Shell) photograph, circa 1934.

Maar was a surrealist painter and photographer known for being a vocal leftist. She signed the ‘Apelle à la lutte’ antifascist manifesto in February of 1934, after seeing alt-right groups initiating riots and trying to force a fascist takeover of their centre-left government.

With everything going on south of the border, and my own provincial government trying as hard as they can to gain the favour of the Cheeto in charge, I wanted to make a piece honouring one of my favourite Anti-fascist artists.

This print is printed on Maidstone paper and is 12″ x 11″
